Leave the hustle and bustle of modern living behind and ease into a different pace to discover the beauty of Hampshire's countryside. If you thrive on fresh air, then get out and about on foot or on two wheels to explore Hampshire's wide open countryside and river valleys.
There are walks and cycle routes for all levels of abilities, both on and off road. Whether you are looking for a flat and gentle stroll along the Basingstoke Canal or want an adrenalin-pumping cycle ride along the South Downs Way, Hampshire has plenty to offer.
Alternatively why not take a different view of the landscape and enjoy the countryside on horseback. Approved riding stables organise rides by the hour or longer and have mounts suitable for all levels of ability from beginner to advanced. There are a number of British Horse Society Approved centres, as well as a network of bridleways. You can take to the saddle in the Wellington Country park or explore the Queen Elizabeth Country Park on horseback.
Hampshire's countryside is the perfect location for a fishing holiday or short break on the world famous River Test. The clear chalk stream waters of the river and tributaries are known globally for their superb Brown Trout fishing and in the lower reaches for Atlantic Salmon.
Or perhaps you would like to relax with a game of golf. Hampshire has a number of quality golf courses ready to challenge, impress and improve your handicap. Why not while away a few hours in the fresh air, before resting your weary feet in the clubhouse.
